the Yoga Midwife



Rachel is a fully certified Birthlight level 2 pregnancy yoga teacher and FEDANT accredited antenatal educator with over 14 years experience as a midwife. Combined with a degree in Sports Science and as a mother of two, she has particular interest in physiological birth, birth biomechanics and achieving a positive birth experience. Having participated in pregnancy yoga in her own pregnancies, and having experienced the benefits first hand both personally and as a midwife she is passionate about teaching and sharing the wonderful benefits of yoga practice during pregnancy and birth. Rachel also teaches birth preparation and breastfeeding workshops in groups or 1:1.   







Pregnancy Yoga classes - suitable from 14 weeks of pregnancy onwards. 

Birthlight yoga incorporates adapted classic yoga practices for specific benefit in pregnancy. My classes are small and friendly and suitable for all levels of experience including those who have never done yoga before. Birthlight is one of the few exercise providers that is approved by the Royal Collage of Midwives. Gentle stretches combined with effective breathing techniques and relaxation will help to prepare your body and mind for the birth whilst easing pregnancy discomforts.

  • Not just focussed on birth, but also on the enjoyment of pregnancy all the way through to labour and beyond.

  • Combine movement, breath, relaxation and awareness.

1:1 pregnancy yoga taught in the comfort of your own home. Tailored to your specific needs and ability.

Birth preparation and breastfeeding workshops available in groups or 1:1

Why pregnancy yoga?

Yoga during pregnancy can help to:

  • Tone and relax muscles

  • Improve sleep and energy levels

  • Reduce anxiety and stress

  • Achieve deep relaxation

  • Alleviate pregnancy discomforts

  • Promote good position of your baby

  • Provide time to connect with your baby

  • Provide effective tips and techniques for pregnancy, labour and birth, including breathing and positions

  • Shorten labour by up to 2 hours when practiced regularly

  • Meet other mothers

Time: 09.00-10.00am

and 10.15-11.15am

Plenty of free parking onsite and access to toilets and a cafe. 

You are encouraged to bring your own mat if you have one, but mats and bricks can be provided and are disinfected after use.


Please bring a pillow/cushion and blanket for the relaxation part of the class and you may like to bring a bottle of water too.

How do I book classes?

Classes can be booked as a 5 week block (£59) or pay as you go from 36 weeks pregnant (£13). Please email before attending.

Booking process, terms and conditions:
  • You will be emailed an enrolment  form and sent payment details to be paid via bank transfer. 

  • Payment is due before your 1st class. 

  • Missed classes are non-refundable.

  • Classes can be rolled over if given more than 48hrs notice.
